The following are my brief answers, matching what
we have discussed.
M83-184 Hoffman Pit - Your comment regarding unauthorized mining
from here, especially when it is outside the permit area, is of
concern to me. If offsite damage is significant now, or if it
could continue, please document it and secure the site against
further unauthorized entry. I will want to inspect this area this
fall, partly to investigate possible violation from offsite damage.
As for the pit being in temporary cessation, please ensure that all
highwalls and slopes are stable, and that you review the portion of
the Rules regarding temporary cessation.
M84-096 Etchart Pit #2 - Please ensure that this site can be
accessed this fall during the next inspection trip. If you
anticipate reclaiming it and requesting release, please review the
permit file and the Rules regarding reclamation standards and
release requirements and procedures.
M94-084 Nelson Pit - Thank you for appearing before the Board this
week to explain the violation at this site. You will be receiving
a Notice related to the violation; you should read them closely.
Please remember that any alternate site chosen for reclamation and
the respective tasks planned should be well described (ie., acres,
cubic yards, hours), should address all reclamation needs, and be
verified by a local expert (ie., SCS). Please remember too that
the civil penalty will be due on the date specified in the Notice.
M83-177 Adams Pit - Thank you for the letter and photos of the
site. If release is to be requested, see my comments under Etchart
#2, above.
