If a decision is made
to permanently abandon this area, reclamation should be initiated as soon as practicable. This would eventually
lead to a release of liability for this area.
The office/processing azea contains the various processing facilities, stockpiles and equipment storage areas.
The facilities appeaz to he well organized and well maintained. No off-site impacts from drainage were noted.
This approximately 12 acre area is industrial in nature, and is intended to remain as such after mining is
completed. The office/processing area encloses a Delta County shop and support facility area, which is not
included within the permit area, and is unaffected by the permitted operation. A review of the permit reveals
that the reclamation for the office/processing area is quite vague. The operator has agreed to submit a Technical
Revision to the permit by February I, 1997 to clarify the reclamation of this area.
The upstream mining area was visited. The North Fork diversion berm is in place, with stream flow being
pushed toward the northern bank of the channel. The total area from which the river is diverted for extraction
purposes is estimated at 4 acres, however, extraction is occurring within only two acres of this area. The depth
of extraction is estimated at two to four feet. Extraction proceeds upstream toward the eastern permit boundary.
The gravel is extracted and loaded onto off-highway haul trucks by rubber tired loader, and transported to the
crusher area, where it is stockpiled for future processing/use.
Prior to runoff, the North Fork berm will be removed, and any small piles of gravel remaining in the channel
will be flattened so that river dynamics are not affected by the operation. Gravel is redeposited within the
mined area during spring runoff.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Richard Cum
STREET P.O. 566
CITY/STATE/ZIP~:iotchkiss.
