Page 2~
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn_ioan_~_
INSPECTION DATE: IJnvemhar ~ 2p(15 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: A IW
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection for a conversion application conducted by Tony
Waldron of DMG along with Jerry Carpenter of Tri River, Inc. The site is located
approximately 4 miles east of Kremmling, Colorado and the pit is situated on an old
alluvial terrace on the north side of the Colorado River.
The conversion application proposes to add 16.79 acres to the existing permitted acreage
of 9.30 for a new permitted area of 26.09 acres. The proposed extension starts at the
east boundary of the existing pit and proceeds approximately 1200 feet east staying on top
of the terrace. The extension is an uneven quadrilateral that is trapezoidal in shape
with the east side shorter than the west side and the north and south boundaries similar
in length. The existing land use is improved rangeland and the proposed post-mining land
use is rangeland. This extension will be a simple expansion of the existing mining plan
with 3H:1V post-mining slopes and a similar seed mix.
The only concern observed on site and not properly addressed in the application was the
existence of a power line along the southern boundary o£ the extension area. The line is
outside of the permit area but is within 200 feet of the proposed affected area. The
operator will need to obtain either a notarized damage agreement, an engineering
evaluation or a notarized letter on utility letterhead stating the mining and reclamation
activities will have no negative effect on their utility from the owner of the power line
prior to application approval.
No other problems were noted and this concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Jerry Carpenter
OPERATOR: Tri River.
