The building north of the Coal Creek crossing has been removed. The
scales and trailer on the main access road have been removed.
Certain areas of the site are covered with diffuse knapweed, however, the knapweed
infestation ie not as pervasive after the recent site grading and revegetation effort ae it
was previously. Based on the observation that there are large areas o:E the site where
knapweed ie not currently present, it waa agreed that the coat included in the previous
reclamation coat estimate for weed control could be reduced by 50 percent.
Establishment of grasses from the seeding that was done in April of 1995 was inspected.
Germination is very good over much of the site. Areas where germination ie poor include the
former processing area at the center of the South Site, which ie covered with a layer of
coarse sand and gravel, the gravel elope at the west end of the south eite,.ind an area south
and west of the Coal Creek culvert that may be an area of heavy clay. These areas will
probably need to be covered with the available stockpiled soil and be re-seeded. It was
agreed that regardless of the good start to revegetation at this site, it iii still too early
in the revegetation effort to reduce the bond for revegetation that is included in the
Divie ion's previous estimate. The Division recommends a light application of slow release
fertilizer in the spring of 1996.
An updated reclamation coat estimate is attached to this report incorporating the reductions
discussed in this report, ae well as a reduction in ripping costa and topsoil replacement
coats that were discussed at a meeting with the operator and the City of Boulder on August
24, 1995. The revised estimated reclamation coat is $95,625.00.
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (wJo
enclosures)
Brad Janes (w/ enclosures)
P.O.
