(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977-300
INSPECTION DATE: March 27, 2001
OBSERVATIONS

INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: AIW
This was a partial performance warranty release inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG. The mine is located
approximately 7 miles northwest of Golden, Colorado. The facilities are situated in a deeply dissected canyon/valley of
Ralston Creek. The primary ore-body is generally located due south of the facilities location and was ao~essed by a series of
horizontal drifts that lead to vertical shafts which decend down into the mine. This inspection was related to a partial
financial warranty release request for several disjointed parcels within the permit area.
Some of the parcels that were included in this request have never been disturbed and they are being released in conjunction
with an affected area land swap that will be forthcoming. The first step in conducting the swap is to obtain release of the
previously undisturbed area. The primary area targeted for this swap is Tract B which is south of the East Dump and along the
east bank of Ralston Creek clear at the west end of the mine. This area is basically isolated from the rest of the mine by the
Ralston Creek and as a result has not been disturbed by mining activities.
Tract A is located near Tract B but is a little further south and on the west side of the creek. A portion of this tract has been
used as a staging area for mine rescue activities but has never been disturbed by mining activities related to the operation of
the rest of the mine.
Tract C consists of drill roads and drill locations located on the ridge to the south of the main mine facilities. This site was
inspected during a previous inspection and recommended for release at that time. The site was inaccessible during this
inspection due to muddy conditions.
Section 8 Tract is located approximately 4 miles southeast of the main mine site in the Glencoe Valley. This site was once
used as a storage pad for uranium ore that was being shipped to the Canon City Mill. The area has been reclaimed and was
released in 1998 by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment from their radioactive materials license. There way
an over-site at that time in requesting a simultaneous release from DMG which has resulted in this being basically an
administrative house cleaning action. However, this is important since the Glencoe Valley is being developed for high-end
housing and the very spot where this tract was located has been sited for a new house with construction presently underway.
As a result of this and previous inspections, all of these sites are eligible for full performance warranty release. One item that
will need to be submitted to our office in order to finalize this request is a copy of the notices that were ~.ent to the county and
any landowners that are not the same as the entity requesting the release. The operator did not request the release of any
monies associated with the current financial warranty.
The operator has recently submitted the report on the waste pile run-off characterization that had been cued as a problem in a
previous report and is submitting a technical revision to address the noxious weed control problem that ~Nas identified as a
problem during the last inspection. As these problems have now been properly abated, they will be terminated from the DMG
problem tracking system.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Timothy W.
