I conducted a
visual inspection of the pit Monday April 20, 1998. We also contacted the adjacent gravel pit ownerloperator
Alan Parkerson to discuss his plans for future mining and reclamation.
During my inspection I noticed a considerable amount of topsoil located on the northerly portion of the pit. We
believe we can salvage this material without exceeding the bounds of the pit and successfully cover the
disturbed areas. I estimated that there was approximately 1000 to 1500 cubic yards of topsoil in this area.
That is enough to cover two acres to a depth of six inches or three acres to a depth of four inches. That will be
adequate to cover the south facing portion of the pit. It was also apparent during my inspection that a
considerable amount of contouring is required before topsoil is placed. It is recognized that there are some
areas of the pit face that stand greater than the desired 3:1 slope. Considering the physical constraints of the
pit and surrounding topography we will leave these slopes at their present grade. However, during the
contouring portion of the reclamation, we will be able to buttress the steep slope below the power line at the
extreme bottom of the slope. This is also agreeable with Mr. Parkerson. I will show on the enclosed map the
locations of these activities. We will install boundary markers prior to start of reclamation work or by May 31,
1998. whichever comes first.
