III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division
of Minerals and Geology. This site is entirely reclaimed, with a total reclaimed
area of about seven acres. Ground conditions were damp and muddy but the site was
free of snow cover and visibility was good. The weather was cool and overcast.
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records is kept at the office of the Las Animas County
Planner at the county courthouse in Trinidad. All records were found current and
in compliance as detailed on page 2a of this report.
Hydrologic Balance
The sediment pond appeared in good condition and was dry. Engleville Gulch was
not flowing.
Revegetation
Vegetation is beginning growth due to moderate spring weather and good soil
moisture. Cool season grasses show 4-6 inches of new growth. Cattle were not
within the fenced area of the site and no sign of grazing this season was
observed.
Overall the site appeared in excellent condition for early spring.
3
