INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. 77-443
DATE: May 1, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. Pit was dry until being flooded about two years ago. Since then, pit has
been inundated with water.
2. Mining is in a NE direction with process area (of stockpiles, crusher, and
loader) to south.
3. Topsoil salvaged and located along the NE and East sides.
4. Pit is an expansion of previous operation dating back to the 19fiU's.
5. Site is as specified in annual reports.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Since sporadic demand for material has caused slow down in mining,
operator should sloe and seed the topsoil piles to maintain soil quality and
quantity. All topsoil will be needed when trying to reclaim this grid site.
2. To avoid any future problems, operator should submit a map showing all
previous mining activities prior to obtaining this permit. Such documentation
is needed since this pit is just an expansion of previous pits and it is
difficult at best to differentiate current 4ctivities from previous activities.
3. Operator should move topsoil pile so it~doe5 not cascade into tF~e pit.
Slides 8-9 Looking from W side of property at process area and stockpiles
10~1~Looking N from access road.
/Yt
Doc.
