CO <br />Below are comments on the inspection The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action <br />This was apre-operational inspection conducted by Kent Gorham and Sandy Brown of the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. This proposed operation is located about 2 <br />miles west of Florence, Colorado along Chandler Creek ~n Fremont County. The mine will be <br />an underground mine in the Ocean Wave coal seam. Coal and surface ownership is private. <br />The proposed permit area is about 1430 acres, with an affected area of about 1110 acres <br />and a disturbed area of around 15 acres. The Division received an incomplete permit <br />application from the applicant on June 1, 2006. <br />AI Weaver of Weaver engineering met us along County Road #79 that parallels Chandler <br />Creek. We discussed the potential for ground subsidence to the west of the facdiry area <br />and the potential rockfall hazard to the facility area. We also discussed the potential for <br />disturbance to raptors that may use the cliff face for nesting. <br />
