OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ESC
This was an inspection of the Nahcolite'Project site conducted by Erica Crosby of the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Cindi Eyrns of Natural Soda, Inc. was present
during the inspection.
The mining and reclamation permit was issued to Natural Soda, inc. on January 31, 1984.
The total permit area is 153.10 acres whereas 72 acres is to be affected at any given
time. The site is on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The Division
holds a bond in the amount of $150,750.00. The BLM holds the remainder of the bond.
The Nahcolite Project site is an active mining operation. Natural Soda recently submitted
and received approval for Technical Revision (TR-24) for a new vertical production well,
5H-lv, which will be completed in the existing 5H Cavity. The new well will replace the
existing lA recover well which has reached the end of its economic life and will be
plugged and abandoned in the near future.
A majority of the wells were inspected, and comments are as follows;

4-3H Plugged & Abandoned The area is reclaimed and perennial
grasses are well established consisting of
Blue Flax, Alfalfa, Indian Ricegrass and
Wheatgrass.
3A-4H Plugged & Abandoned The area is reclaimed and perennial

Blue Flax, Alfalfa, Indian Ricegrass and
Wheatgrass. Some bare spots were noted
and will need to be revegetated.
DS-2 Monitoring Well- up In March/April 2007 a day logger was
gradient installed for the well.

3A-5V Pad area needs to be reclaimed
lA-SHA Active Production Well The well is currently in production. This
well will shut down once 5H-1v is
operational. Mud pits are still in place.
2B-3C Plugged & Abandoned Area has been reclaimed. The backfilling
consists of small round piles of dirt.
Vegetation has established in the dips or
valleys of the piles but not on the top.
4A-5A Monitoring Well TDR cable installed in this well but is
failing. Mud pit will need to be
reclaimed. Area has been revs stated.
4A-4V Production Well The well is not producing and needs to be
plugged and abandoned. The mud pits will
need to be backfilled, area regraded,
piping removed, and reseeded.
4A-1V Water level for the DS aquifer.
7H-1R Production Well Well drilled in 2005 but not completed to
be functional. Will try to recover well
by pulling the 3y, casing and perforating
the 534 casing.
7H-2I Production Well Well drilled in 2005 but not completed to
be functional. Will try to recover well
by pulling the 3y, casing and perforating
the 5'h casing.
SH-1V Production Well (TR -24) Pad area currently under construction.
Mud pits have been installed and topsoil
has been stockpiled along the perimeter of
