(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1993-023
INSPECTION DATE 07/12/2006
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS DEG
This routine monitoring inspection of Permit Number M-2002-059 (Sunbeam Pit #1) was conducted by Deb E. Gonima of the
DMG. Moffat County representative Marvin Moore was present during this inspection. The pit is located approximately 5 miles
west of Maybell, CO on Highway 318, and currently consists of approximately 68.15 acres where approximately40 acres have
been disturbed.
Mine entrance signs and permit boundary markers are all in place, and topsoil stockpiles are all well-marked. All activities and
completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the state and the mining
and reclamation plans for the pit, and no problems are noted for this site. The site is stable and no disturbance was observed
outside of the approved permit boundaries. For future reference, this site is correctly positioned in the DMG online GIS.
The large material stockpile is situated near the northern-center of the site, north of the mine entrance. The majority of the site
is still active, and no reclamation has begun. There are two pit areas, in the shape of a basin that lie on the western portion of
the site (see photos 2 & 3). Awell-maintained secondary containment area for possible fuel storage exists near the mine
entrance, but no fuel storage took place at the time of this inspection.
A storm water runoff control program was implemented a few years back and seems to have been successful in its use of
diversion structures, sediment traps, and small ponding areas. There appears to be no offsite erosion, and no long-term
(greater than 72 hours) water retention was observed.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E. G6nima at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Denver
Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, phone number 303-866-4179.
I & E Contact Address
cc:
^ CE
NAME Mr. Marvin Moore ^ BL
OPERATOR Moffat Countv ^ FS
STREET 1570 Rannev Street ^ Hy~
CITY/STATE/ZIP Crai4, CO 81625 ^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WOCD (CH)
^ OTHER
cc: Bill Mack, Moffat County Road Department, P.O.
