III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of CDMG. The Rimrock Mine
consists of approximately seven acres of reclamation. The 2002 growing season will be
the ninth year following reseeding.
Signs and Markers
The mine entry sign is Clearly visible on the gate at the mine entrance and is in
compliance with the requirements of Rule 4.02 and 4.30.
Hydrologic Balance
The single sediment pond at the site was found dry. Green grass covered the pond bottom,
indicating some available moisture. The region continues to suffer from a severe
drought.
Revegetation
Vegetation is stunted site-wide due to very limited soil moisture. Biennial weed
rosettes (thistle) were mechanically removed as encountered. Numerous shrubs including
two varieties of coniferous trees and the half-shrub winterfat are abundant on the site.
Overall, the site appeared in fair condition for the spring season. Moisture is sorely
needed.
3
