Cattany <br />Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81602 Acting Division Director <br />RE: White Banks Mine Permit No. M-1999-042, Permit Revisions Required Before Explosives UseJ <br />Dear Mr. Congdon: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has recently become aware that blasting is being <br />utilized at. the White Banks Mine for development of. the workings and a complaint has been <br />received. Permit M-1999-042 does not currently specify that blasting. will be used for mine . <br />development, as required by Rule 6.3.3(1)(o-,-and does not currently contain the information <br />required by Rule 6.5(4-, demonstrating that off site areas will not be adversely affected by blasting <br />operations. <br />Use of explosives at the White Banks Mine is not authorized until DMG has approved a revision to <br />Permit No. M-1:999-042 that adequately addresses the requirements of the above noted Rules. <br />Therefore, Avalanche Creek Marble and Alabaster, L.L.C. must discontinue blasting operations at <br />this site until such revision is submitted to, and approved by, DMG. <br />If you need. additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, <br />Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, <br />telephone no. 970-243-6368. <br />Sinter` <br />Steve S.
