IPege 21
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #
INSPECTION DATE 7 4
M-99-074
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS ~~
~I~Y~.~~~~g~
This inspection occurred as part of DMG's review process for a Limited Impact 1 10(21 reclamation
application. The Brown Derby Mine is a pre-law mine, dating back to the 1930's, and is located
approximately 16 miles east of Gunnison in the NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 3, T49N, R3E,
NMPM, Gunnison County. The proposed 0.5 acre permit area is limited to the main pre-law portal
and portions of the waste rock mine bench and portions of the mine access road. Pre-law mining
disturbances surround the permit area. The applicant holds the claim for the mineral rights. BLM
manages the surface lands of the proposed permit area and surrounding areas.
Public notice, required by Rule 1.6.2(111b-, was posted. Proposed affected area was delineated
by survey markers. Subsequent to DMG's approval of the application, and prior to commencement
of the mining operation, the operator is required to post and maintain a mine identification sign and
affected area perimeter markers, please review Rule 3.1.12.
Pre-law portal was dry, no water was impounded in or near the portal, no discharge noted.
Proposed permit areas affected by pre-law mining activities appeared stable, evidence of slope
failure or excessive erosion/sedimentation were not observed. Evidence of minor rock fall and
minor erosion/sedimentation were observed at the existing portal highwall.
Permanent man-made structures within the proposed affected area and within 200' of the permit
area were limited to the pre-existing access road, steel grate closures on the portals, and historic
mining related structures, as identified within the permit application.
I & E Contact Address cc: Tom Gillis, DMG
^ CE
NAME Ms Glvnda Yoder ^ BL
OPERATOR Precious Offerfnas Metal Exchange.
