(Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1987-024 <br />INSPECTION DATE 1/12/04 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM <br />This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology for the review of new application. The Corey Pit # 3 is a 110c that has reached its approved limits. The <br />landowner /operator wishes to expand the Corey to the south to continue developing the existing gravel resource. <br />Western Gravel Inc. will be succeeding as the operator once the Conversion to a 112c is complete. <br />The proposed expansion will encompass an additiona140.83 for a total of 50.73 acres of mined area. The site is an <br />alluvial deposit mesa similaz to those. in the surrounding area that have been primarily used for agricultural purposes <br />for many yeazs. The +/- 41 acres is currently imgated hayfields. The proposed post mine land use is for rangeland <br />per consultations with the landowner/current permit holder. <br />Three to four inches of snow blanketed the entire site. Staff was able to observe hay stubble and plowing of the <br />fields. Fence lines, utilities and other permanent features could be observed and were checked against the submitted <br />maps for accuracy and any missing details. The inspector did not note any errors or omissions from the pre-mining <br />map. <br />A discussion between the inspector and the operator's representatives noted that an area in the southwest corner of <br />the existing pit had a noted seep during irrigation season. Staffhad a concern as to this being exposed groundwater. <br />However, the operator has had consultations with the local Division of Water Resources and it was determined not <br />to be so. The inspector has asked for a copy ofthe documentation ofthe consultation visit and DWR conclusions as <br />a matter of record for the permit. <br />No other issues or problems were noted at this time.
