This type of mining is common in this area and there are several <br />mines of this type along Surveyor Creek. Typical reclamation plans call for regrading the <br />remaining sandy material in the channel bottom to match the creek cross-section. <br />Revegeta tion only occurs near the banks if those area are disturbed during the mining <br />process. <br />The site currently has very little vegetation in the active channel except for the occasional <br />cottonwood tree. Along the channel/bank transition there is grassy vegetation such as sand <br />bluestem, switchgrass, prairie sandreed, etc. The reclamation plan calls for re- <br />establishment of these grasses along the channel/bank contact but no revegetation in the <br />active channel.
