l ~ <br />INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2 <br />FILE N0. M-80-183 <br />DATE: October 15. 1986 <br />OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE. AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />1. Mining is proceeding to the south in phase.one (.1) with topsoil and <br />overburden being stockpiled to the east of the mining operation and <br />used as visual control berms bettaeen the mine and U.S. Highway 85. <br />2. Topsoil directly to the south of the sorting plant and asphalt plant <br />area has not been saved prior to mining into this material. Please <br />be sure to maintain a buffer zone of stripped topsoil at least twenty <br />(20) feet in front of the advancing pit in order to assure that no <br />topsoil is lost. <br />3. Topsoil has been mixed with over burden in the topsoil/overburden <br />stockpile directly to the northwest of the scale house. <br />4. Please provide the Division with a detailed topsoil management plan <br />by December 1, 1986 which addresses where topsoil stockpiles will be <br />located, brow topsoil is to be salvaged, how it will be stabilized to <br />minimize wind and water erosion, and how it will be handled and placed <br />to prevent contamination by overburden and other materials. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />(Rev. 9/83) <br />
