Elk Creek C-1981-022 <br />26 October 2006 <br />P9 2/2 <br />- The ditches along the haul road to the Elk Creek facilities area, the East Yard and old <br />highway 133 were all cleaned and appeared to be stable and functioning as designed. All of <br />the sumps in the ditches were also cleaned out. No erosional problems were noted in any of <br />the ditches. <br />Processing Waste: -There were several small piles of material at the West Valley Fill that <br />need to be spread and compacted. The pile appeared to be stable and well compacted at <br />the time of the inspection. There was no water pooled on the surface of the pile. <br />- The operator has placed a lift of refuse on the II-West Pile. The lift appeared to be stable <br />and there was no water pooling on the new pile at the time of the inspection. <br />- The reclaimed East Yard pile remains stable and well vegetated. No erosional problems <br />were noted on the pile at the time of the inspection. <br />Topsoil: -The Elk Creek topsoil pile was well vegetated and stable at the time of the <br />inspection. No erosional problems were noted. <br />- The topsoil by the Sanborn Creek fan was well vegetated and stable at the time of the <br />inspection. No erosional problems were noted. <br />- The topsoil on the reclaimed East Yard refuse pile remains stable, with no erosional <br />problems noted at the time of the inspection. <br />Support Facilities: -The Sanborn Creek fan site was stable at the time of the inspection. <br />No erosional problems were noted. <br />- The substation #3 pad was stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional problems <br />were noted. <br />- Both the Sanborn Creek and Elk Creek Mine facilities areas were stable at the time of the <br />inspection. No erosional or other problems were noted at either site. <br />- The explosives magazine pad was stable at the time of the inspection. No problems were <br />noted on the pad. All four of the explosives magazines were locked at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />Air Resource Protection; -There were no problems with fugitive dust on any of the haul <br />roads or from the coal stockpile at the time of the inspection. <br />Overall, the Elk Creek and Sanborn Creek Mine site is in good condition. <br />
