The site is permitted and bonded for
disturbance o:E 88.65 acres. Approximately half of the acreage is currently disturbed so the
current financial warranty, calculated in 1994, is adequate to cover reclamation.
The mine identification sign was not in place at the site, nor were there adequate affected
area boundary markers to allow identification of the boundaries. These problems were
identified in inspection reports in 1991 and 1992. If photo documentation of correction of
these problemt; is not received by the Division by 11-30-97, enforcement action may be taken.
The site was inactive with no machinery on site. Several large stockpiles with weeds growing
on them were located on both the north and south halves of the site. Both the north and
south sectionet of the site have tall, over-steepened pit slopes that have not been worked in
a while. The operator has committed, in the approved permit, to reduce all slopes to a 3:1
grade when mining is not active. This slope reduction must occur by 11-30-97.
There is no caster impounded in the pit.
No noxious we=ds were observed.
NAME Izora Southway
OPERATOR Southway Const. Co..
