III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
On June 19, 1997, William J. Carter from the Division of Minerals and Geology performed a partial
inspection of the Ohio Creek # 2 Mine in Gunnison County. This is a revoked mine and therefore no
company representative was present. The weather was clear and warm during this inspection.
Roads:
The Gunnison County road going to the mine was dry, and in good and stable condition.
Hydrologic Balance:
• During the inspection all ditches and the sediment pond were dry.
• The sediment pond appears to be stable at this time.
Backfill and Grading:
No new rills were noted during this inspection.
Revegetation:
It appears that several different grasses and fortis are becoming established.
Slides and Damaee:
No settling or slumping was observed.
Others•
• No perennial noxious weeds were observed during this inspection.
• The site contains a heavy infestation of Field pennycress (Thlaspi arvense).
• Field pennycress (Thlaspi arvense) is also found along the Gunnison County road leading to
the mine site.
