Remaining tasks to be conducted, to reclaim the site
as per the approved reclamation plan, were also evaluated.
Structures currently on site that need to be removed include the storage building north of
the mill, the scale house, ecnd the snow shed/machine shop at the portal. All three
structures are wood framed with steel sheet exteriors. The storage building has been sold
and is partially dismantled. The purchaser plans on completing removal of the structure in
spring of 1999.
Concrete foundations, for nearly every building that was on site, still require demolition
and disposal, or burying. These foundations include:
Scale house - approx. 24 ft. r: 30 ft. pad - on grade.
North mill storage bldg. - approx. 36 ft. x 62 ft. pad - 3.5 ft. stem wall.
Northwest mill storage bldg. - approx. 30 ft. x 60 ft. pad - on grade.
Mill bldg. - approx. 60 ft. x 140 ft. constructed on several levels - concrete generally 2
ft. thick, probably reinforced - 8 ft. stem walls.
Crusher and ore bin foundation - approx. 35 ft. x 50 ft. - majority is on or below grade.
Oil storage bldg. - approx. 8 in. thick pad 40 ft. x 22 ft - approx. 3 ft. above grade on
mound constructed of tailings confined by timbers.
Shop bldg. - approx. 110 ft. x 50 ft. pad - approx. 3 ft. stem walls.
Small shop southeast of main [:hop - approx. 24 ft. x 35 ft. pad - on grade.
It is unknown if the on-site power transformers will remain since no powerlines are connected
to the historic buildings. One: of the three transformers does not have a PCB concentration
certification sticker on it. '[f they are to be removed, costs for proper disposal of this
transformer, assuming PCB contamination, should be considered.
No evidence of increased tailing erosion was noted during this inspection.
The portal is partially collapsed, but the mine can be accessed through the portal. The
water discharging from the portal is 1.5 to 2 ft. deep, leaving approximately 2.5 to 3 ft.
of opening above water level.
Buildings where the superstructure have been removed include the mill, crusher, ore bin, oil
storage, main shop, small shop, snow shed from portal area to ore bin, and the storage bldg.
northwest of the mill.
The mine discharge pipe has been cut at the Imogene Creek crossing and now discharges
directly to that creek. The iaediment pond is still holding water, but is not discharging.
Portions of the discharge pipe, no longer used and exposed on the surface, will need to be
removed. Estimate 150 to 200 ft. of pipe plus steel support structure at Imogene Creek.
