Cunningham, Director <br />February 2, 2026 <br /> <br /> <br />Delta County Commissioners <br />County Commissioner <br />501 Palmer Street, #227 <br />Delta, CO 81416 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1996-083) <br /> Technical Revision No. 124 (TR-124) <br /> Revision of Reclamation Plan and Maps Related to the Haul Road to Gob Pile #2 <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Delta County Commissioners: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 2, 2026 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources, LLC. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br /> <br />TR-124 will modify the reclamation plan to leave the coal prep plant pad in its current configuration <br />and revise a portion of the haul road from the prep plant to the gob piles. Material generated from <br />the haul road realignment will be used as coverfill to reclaim Gob Pile #2, The applicant is not <br />proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of <br />Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 22, Township 13 South, Range 91 West <br />of the 6th P.M. <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle <br />map(s): Gray Reservoir, Bowie. <br /> <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been <br />deemed complete. At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to <br />place a copy of this application at the Paonia Public Library, 2 3rd Street, Paonia, CO 81428.
