RECEIVED
JAN 12 2026 January 6, 2026
Weld County Planning Department
1150 O St. Greeley, Co 80631 DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(DRMS)
1313 Sherman St. Denver, CO 80203
Re: Public Comment—Proposed Sasaki Gravel Pit 112 Application (Unincorporated
Weld County)
To Weld County Officials and the Colorado DRMS,
I am writing as a homeowner who lives within approximately 200 feet of the proposed
Sasaki Gravel Pit in unincorporated Weld county. Light Pollution
Bright industrial lighting, particularly at night, can interfere with sleep and affect both
residents and wildlife. We ask that lighting be shielded, directed downward, and minimized
outside of essential operating periods.
3.Traffic and Road Safety
The increase in heavy truck traffic raises concerns about congestion, safety, dust, and
road deterioration. This is especially concerning because, during the spring of 2025, semi-
trucks associated with site activity were observed blocking the only single-lane road in and
out of our neighborhood, creating unsafe conditions and limiting resident access. We
request thorough traffic studies and mitigation measures such as designated haul routes,
access controls, speed enforcement, and dust management.
4. Noise Levels
Noise from machinery and vehicle activity has the potential to carry directly into nearby
