EXHIBIT D MINING PLAN(CONT) <br /> There are four (4) types of soils found on the site. These <br /> soils are typically found throughout Weld County. They have no <br /> unusual qualities . The four types of natural soils on the site as <br /> determined by the Natural Resource Conservation Service and shown <br /> in the report are designated as Map Units 1, 3, 68 and 75 . Soil <br /> units 3 and 68 are very small areas on the south edge of the mine <br /> that contain an exposed gravel face that will be removed as <br /> mining progresses . See the SOILsMAPin the NRCS report for how the <br /> soils are distributed on the permit area. The NRCS report con- <br /> tains detailed information including the soils description, and <br /> chemical, physical, and engineering qualities, which can be found <br /> in Exhibit I - Soils . <br /> The Vegetation inventory applies to only the non-farmed area in <br /> each soil type and is provided as background for when the perime- <br /> ters of the backfilled areas are revegetated. Typically, at this <br /> time, the irrigated areas are used to grow various vegetable <br /> crops such as onions or cabbage. The overburden will be placed <br /> over the imported fill to provide a root bed for the crops then <br /> the topsoil will be replaced over the overburden. <br /> The soils on the permit area that will be salvaged and replaced <br /> should be capable of growing vegetation consistent with what is <br /> required by the Reclamation Plan. The average depth of topsoil <br /> on the site according to the NRCS report and site investigations <br /> is 10 to 12 inches deep. Enough topsoil will be retained to <br /> place an average of 10-12 inches on the areas to be revegetated. <br /> As each area is stripped, it will be stockpiled for use in recla- <br /> mation or replaced on areas where backfilling is complete. In <br /> addition, there is from 24 to 36 inches of overburden on most of <br /> the site. Much of this overburden will be retained and used to <br /> 8 1/2 Enterprises LLC.
