2025 Colony Mine Vegetation Survey <br /> <br />Pond 5 <br />Survey Date: 8/4/2025 <br />Plant Community: Riparian woodland and sagebrush shrubland. <br />Vegetation Description: Box elder and narrowleaf cottonwood trees with big sagebrush and uniform <br />understory of slender wheatgrass around the pond. Big sagebrush and perennial grasses (western <br />wheatgrass, basin wildrye, slender wheatgrass, bottlebrush squirrel tail) in upland portion of the east bank <br />and throughout the historical access road. The pond is dry and areas below the historical ordinary highwater <br />mark have sagebrush encroaching and patches of slender wheatgrass and high occurrences of musk thistle. <br />Vegetation within reclaimed areas blends well with undisturbed reference areas. <br />Revegetation Status Designation: Maintenance Required. <br />Recommended Maintenance: When pond is dry, treat musk thistle.
