Based on my experience as a reclamation soil scientist to achieve greatest probability of <br /> successful reclamation the application of 8 to 12 inches of topsoil is required. <br /> About the Author <br /> Aaron DeJoia is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist through the Soil Science Society of America, a <br /> Certified Professional Agronomist and Certified Crop Advisor through the American Society of Agronomy, <br /> and a Licensed Professional Soil Classifier in North Dakota. All of these certifications and licenses <br /> required him to take and pass written tests and show education and professional experience.The <br /> certifications Mr. DeJoia currently holds are the highest certifications that can be obtained for soil <br /> scientists and agronomists in the United States. Mr. DeJoia have a BS and MS degree from Kansas State <br /> University in Agriculture(Agronomy-Soil and Water Science)and Agronomy(Soil Fertility). In 2020 Mr. <br /> DeJoia received the Presidential Award from the Soil Science Society of America for his compassion for <br /> soils, enduring impacts as a Professional Soil Scientist, and dedicated advocacy for soils.Aaron currently <br /> sits on the Soils Certification Board for the Soil Science Society of America. Mr. DeJoia has spent the past <br /> 20 years working on mining, oil and gas, and solar reclamation projects throughout Colorado and the <br /> United States. Mr. DeJoia helped found the annual National Summit for Reclamation and Construction <br /> held in Keenesburg Colorado. <br />
