<br /> The JD-8 Mine lower mine permit area occupies approximately 11.9 acres on the north-facing escarpment
<br /> of Monogram Mesa. The areas below the crest of Monogram Mesa and above the mine that do not
<br /> contribute to mine storm water discharge are shown as "non-contributing" sub-basins in Figure 2 and their
<br /> acreages are listed in Table 2.

<br /> Noncontact storm water from these upland areas is routed away from mine facilities by a series of borrow
<br /> ditches and culverts primarily associated with county road facilities,as described in Section 3.1.
<br /> The ditch/berm system in Sub-Basin N-E, upgradient of the western "tail" of the existing waste rock pile
<br /> (Figure 2), will be installed by Cotter in 2012 when approval is received from DRMS. As shown in the
<br /> photo below, the footprint of the existing waste rock pile is not distinguishable in Sub-basin N-E at the
<br /> scale of an aerial image because very little waste rock was placed in this area. Construction of the
<br /> I) proposed ditch/berm system will remove 0.1 acres of waste rock from Sub-basin N-E, resulting in a total
<br /> non-contributing sub-basin area of 4.3 acres.
