i
• SID Exhibit K2
CLIMATE
Introduction
The description of the climate at the project site is bas-d upon
data compiled by the National Climatic Center (National Oceani and
Atmospheric Administration) for Paradox and Grand Junction, Colorado,
and information presented in the West-Central Colorado Coal Re, ionai
Environmental Impact Statement prepared by the U. S. Bureau of Lard
Management.
The meteorological and climatic conditions in the vicinit of the
• C-JD-8 site are well represented by the conditions observed at Paradox
• (elevation 5,309 ft.) and Grand Junction (elevation 4,843 ft.) with
slight variations expected at the project site due to differs. .es in
elevation, vegetation and ground cover, and topographic orient-tion.
The discussion of climatic data in this section is presented
primarily in the context of revegetation.
Specific Climatic Factors
TEMPERATURE
The temperature data given in Table K2-I are represen ative
of the monthly variations which can be expected at the C-J'-8
site. Although the trend generally indicates lower averag•• tem-
peratures at higher elevations, temperatures may occasiona ly
be colder in valleys or basins (i.e., Paradox Valley) than . t
411410 adjacent higher elevations surrounding these lower areas d e to
-1- ^.
