Exhibit G2
Whetstone
4
Associates Technical Memorandum
To: Glen Williams(Cotter Corporation) 4I22A
From: Susan Wyman, P.E., P.G. (Whetstone Associates)
Date: April 13,2012
Subject: Hydrogeologic Data Compilation for the JD-8 Mine
1. INTRODUCTION
Regional and local hydrogeologic information for the 1D-8 Mine was compiled in the Environmental
Protection Plan (EPP), which was attached as Exhibit U to the JD-8 Mine Plan Amendment AM-01
and submitted to the Colorado Division of Mining. Reclamation, and Safety (DRMS) in June 2011.
DRMS reviewed the Mine Plan Amendment and EPP, and requested further characterization of
groundwater conditions at the 1D-8 Mine site (DRMS, 2011). Additional site-specific information
was compiled and presented to DRMS at a meeting held on November 30, 2011.
The purpose of this technical memorandum is to summarize the site-specific hydrogeologic
information from the EPP and additional data from geologic logs and cross sections that were
discussed at the November 30th meeting. Groundwater data from exploration drill holes are
presented in this technical memorandum, along with the location and completion specifications for a
proposed downgradient monitoring well.
Ili2. HYDROSTRATIG RAPH V
The principal stratigraphic units at the JD-8 Mine site are shown in Table I and include the
following:
• Colluvium and aeolian soil as a thin veneer on the escarpment
• Brushy Basin Member Morrison Formation
• Salt Wash Member Morrison Formation
• Summerville Formation
• Entrada Sandstone
A stratigraphic cross section of the JD-8 Mine at the Monogram Mesa escarpment is shown in Figure
1 (White, 2006). A geologic map and regional cross section are provided in Figure 2 and Figure 3.
respectively. Uranium and vanadium ore at the 1D-8 Mine is hosted by the Salt Wash Member of
the Morrison Formation, which overlies the Summerville Formation (low-permeability shales
interbedded with minor sandstones). The Entrada Sandstone underlies the Summerville Formation
and is typically water-bearing.
OpWhetstone Associates, Inc.
104 W Ruby Avenue 6 Gunnison,Colorado 81230 6 Phone 970-841-7471 ♦ Fax 970-641-7431
