<br /> <br />Public Notice <br /> <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, of the Colorado <br />Revised Statutes, hereby issues notice that on October 16, 2025, a minor revision application (MR-490) to <br />the West Elk Mine, Permit No. C-1980-007, operated by Mountain Coal Company, LLC, 5174 Highway <br />133, Somerset, CO 81434 was considered complete for the purposes of filing. With Minor Revision no. <br />490 (MR-490), Mountain Coal Company, LLC (MCC) seeks to permit the construction of a new <br />monitoring hole to monitor the level of water in the old B-seam. The hole will be 350’ deep, with a 14” <br />conductor casing from the surface to100’, followed by 9 5/8” casing extending from 100’ to 330’. The <br />final section, from 330’ to total depth will be completed as an 8 3/4” open hole. The hole will be drilled on <br />the northeast of the existing RPE pad. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance <br />outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. All reviews and comment periods as provided in <br />the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this date of filing.
