WALSENB URG SAND & GRAVEL CO INC.
d
314 Hwy 10 / PO Drawer 352 Walsenburg, CO 81089
Phone 719-738-1883
RECEIVED
August 25, 2025
OCT 0 7 2025
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Colorado Division of Reclamation,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Mining and Safety
Denver, CO 80203
Subject: Request for Second Period of Temporary Cessation—Permit No. M-2009-027
Dear Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
This letter serves as a formal request for a second period of temporary cessation for the
mining operation located at WSG-Hribar, Huerfano County, Colorado operating under
Permit No: M-2009-027.
We would like to request a 2nd five-year temporary cessation. The need for temporary
cessation is due to project locations. It was not feasible for Walsenburg Sand & Gravel to
pull material from the WSG-Hribar mine site for the last several years due to the distance
required to transport material. We are now starting projects located near this site which
will be a more practical distance to transport material at this time. Our plan is to reopen
the mining within the next 3 to 6 months to accommodate new projects.
Part of the original portion of the site has been reclaimed but will need to be reseeded. Our
plan is to reseed winter wheat before October. We remain committed to our obligations
under the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act and the approved reclamation plan
associated with our permit. We understand that this second period of temporary cessation
is the final allowance before reinitiation of mining or commencing final reclamation,
according to the Colorado Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety.
We are committed to providing any further information or documentation necessary for
your review of this request. We appreciate your continued understanding and guidance.
Sine• ely,
Gary Vezzani
President
