Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine
Valley Leach Facility Expansions
Detailed Design for Permitting
NewFields Project No. 475.0106.064
September 2025

Page 16
4.6.3. Low Volume Solution Collection System
The VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA design includes a system of 4-inch diameter perforated CPe pipes called
the Low Volume Solution Collection System, located between the upper and lower layers of the
100-mil LLDPE geomembrane within the 3-foot layer of LVSCF material. The LVSCS will direct
solution, via gravity, to the sloped riser pipes located below the HVSCS SRS. The riser pipes consist
of three (3) 18-inch diameter SDR11 HDPE pipes that will be connected to form a manifold. The
bottom 22 feet of the riser pipes will be perforated to allow solution to flow into the manifold,
where submersible pumps will be lowered to extract any solution and returned to the PSSA.
Details of the LVSCS SRS can be referenced on Drawing A023.
4.7. Appurtenant Structures
A haul road has been included in the design of the VLF Expansion. The haul road begins at the toe
of the VLF2 Phase 1 stack and runs between the existing VLF1 and VLF2 to aid in the initial ore
loading of the expansion. Although the road design has not yet been finalized, the layout has
been included for information and planning purposes only. In its current iteration, the haul road
is approximately 13,422 feet long, with a 100-foot driving width. The road will be constructed
using non-potentially acid generating (NPAG) general fill material. The road will have a minimum
thickness of 20 feet on top of the liner surface will be maintained.
4.8. Reclamation/Closure
Once the leaching activities have ceased, the facility will be rinsed and capped as described in the
approved reclamation and closure plans in Amendments 10, 11, and 13. Based upon the current
ore loading scheme, the ore will be stacked in 100-foot high lifts, graded to have side slopes of
2(H):1(V), and 50 foot benches to meet the 2.5(H):1(V) maximum closure slope. At closure, the
facility will be capped with topsoil and revegetated. Stormwater will be controlled in perimeter
stormwater channels, bench channels, and drain down channels. Additional details of the
Reclamation/Closure Plan are addressed in Exhibit E of the application.
4.9. Technical Specifications
Throughout the development and operations of the two VLF facilities at CC&V, Technical
Specifications have been established and modified as necessary to achieve the design intent and
acceptable performance. The Technical Specifications included in Appendix D are the same as
used in construction of Phase 3 of VLF2 except with the following update:
01050 Construction Staking, Part 1 General, Section 1.5 Construction Certification
Documentation, Part B, Submittals by Contractor Upon Completion of Work, first bullet
has been updated to say “Leak detection trench plan view showing the limits of the valley
