Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine <br />Valley Leach Facility Expansions <br />Detailed Design for Permitting <br />NewFields Project No. 475.0106.064 <br />September 2025 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> The expansion will include a composite liner system within the pad lined area and PSSA. <br />The liner systems are identical to the liner systems previously deployed in VLF1 and VLF2. <br />o Layers of the composite liner system within the PSSA from bottom up are: SLF, <br />Secondary 100-mil LLDPE Geomembrane Liner, Low Volume Collection Fill, <br />Primary 100-mil LLDPE Geomembrane Liner, and Drain Cover Fill (DCF). <br />o Layers of the composite liner system outside the PSSA footprint from the bottom <br />up are: SLF, Primary 80-mil LLDPE Geomembrane Liner, and DCF. <br /> The VLF Expansions will be constructed in a minimum of four stages and timing is <br />expected to vary based on business planning. <br />The quality of the construction for the VLF Expansions is an important aspect of this project. <br />Qualified personnel under the supervision of an experienced professional engineer registered in <br />the State of Colorado will be on site to observe and/or provide testing for all aspects of the <br />construction, included but not limited to: <br /> Vegetation and soil removal, <br /> Subgrade preparation <br /> Historical underground mine workings remediation, <br /> Fill placement, <br /> Leak Detection System installation, <br /> Soil Liner Fill placement, <br /> Geomembrane installation, <br /> Placement of Low Volume Solution Collection Fill <br /> Installation of the Low and High-Volume Solution Collection Pipes <br /> Placement Drain Cover Fill. <br />It should be noted that any mine placed pit backfill material prior to construction of the VLF <br />composite liner system is considered to be out of the scope of this project and is not considered <br />a feature of the overall Environmental Protection Facility as described in the Environmental <br />Protection Plan (Exhibit U) of the Amendment 14 submission. <br />4.2. Staged Construction <br />The VLF Expansion will be constructed in four Stages: VLF2 Phase 4 Stage A and B, and VLF1 Phase <br />6 Stage A and B.
