TABLE E-2 DRYLAND REVEGETATION SEED MIX
Species
Orchardgrass(Paiute) 15%
Tetraploid Perennial Rye 20%
Crested Wheatgrass( Hycrest) 15%
Pubescent Wheatgrass(Luna) 15%
Dahurian Wildrye 15%
Smooth Brome(Lincoln) 20%
Total 100%
Seed will be drilled and certified weed free for dryland areas, which will be crimped into the soil
surface. Commercial starter fertilizer will be applied at the rate of 400 pounds/acre ammonium
sulfate
2. Post-Reclamation Site Drainage
The entire permit area will drain to the pit lake after reclamation, as shown on Map Exhibit E-2.
3.Weed Control
Farnsworth will take measures to ensure that the reclaimed land is free of weed infestations.
Problem weeds will be monitored closely each spring for the first two years after reclamation to
determine if they are invading the area. Weed control will be initiated if the problem becomes
serious. The Division will be consulted regarding any weed infestation area and any control
measures prior to their initiation. It may be necessary to control weeds by mowing after the first
year; the feasibility of chemical weed control methods will be studied should it be necessary. The
plan does not contemplate total weed removal on the property. Past experience shows that some
initial weed cover in the first year following topsoiling is beneficial to the reclamation effort.
Weeds tend to provide shade for new grasses, are a means of holding snow on the seedbed longer
and protect it from wind and water erosion until the planted species have taken hold.
32
North Fork Pit March 04
