JJ COLLECTING PROJECT#2(REDEMPTION)
HARD ROCK/ METAL MINING
LIMITED IMPACT OPERATION (110(1))
RECLAMATION PERMIT APPLICATION
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D-RECLAMATION PLAN
6.3.4(1)(a)
Partial reclamation will occur at the end of each mining season as is feasible. Annual
reclamation will be done prior to November 30th on those excavated areas deemed not worth
expanding. Those areas will be back-filled with overburden and graded to their original status.
At the end of the entire mining project, all slopes will be contoured and graded to pre-mining
status. The disturbed areas will be broadcasted with 40 lbs of seed mix per acre as
recommended by the Forest Service. None of the well established timbre in the area will be
disturbed at this mining operation.
6.3.4(1) (b)
The natural slopes on each of the proposed dig sites do not exceed 3:1. Most of the dig sites
and surrounding land is gently sloped, between 4:1 and 10:1. See Exhibit E 6.3.5 (3) reclamation
plan map. As such, no specific justification is needed for mining the proposed areas at this
time.
6.3.4(1) (c)
(i)The thickness of plant growth medium to be replaced is 4 to 8 inches maximum based on
recommendations by the U.S.D.A. Forest Service.
(ii) Reclamation will be conducted on excavated areas deemed not worth expanding during the
operation and/or at an annual reclamation prior to November. Additional seeding may take
place in the spring and early summer. These areas will be backfilled to their natural pre-mining
slope grade with overburden and then with plant growth medium and topsoil. The seedbed
material will be loosened manually with a pick, shovel, and rake; the seedbed will be broadcast
seeded; no mulch or fertilizer will be used; at the end of the operation all excavations and dig
sites (including previous disturbances)will be reclaimed.
(iii) Only grass seed will be used for the reclamation. No ford, shrub or tree species will be
planted. The grass seed species or mix that will be used is based on U.S.D.A Forest Service
recommendations. The seeding rate shown below has been adjusted for broadcast seeding.
The seeding method will be broadcast seeding and will take place at a minimum in late
Summer and/or early Fall before snowfall begins. Seeding rate will be 40 lbs live seed per acre,
which is twice the recommended amount given we are using the method of broadcast seeding.
However, the actual live rate amount could change slightly in a given season depending on the
availability of seed and the tested germination rate for a given season. Each site will be
reseeded until adequate growth is achieved. If a site does not show good growth the following
