Table GS-2. Factors of Safety for Slope Stability
Slope Condition Lowest Factor of Lowest Factor of Safety Nearest Structure and Distance to
Safety(static) (seismic) Failure Slope
Active Mining 1.87 N/A Wastewater lagoons, >200-ft
Final Reclamation 2.26 1.70 i Wastewater lagoons, >200-ft
3. Conclusion
The Active Mining condition slope has a minimum factor of safety (FoS = 1.87) of greater than
1.5 for static conditions. The Final Reclamation slope has a minimum factor of safety (FoS =
2.26) of greater than 1.5 for static conditions. This Factor of Safety is greater in both conditions
than the CDRMS minimum for critical structure of 1.5. The seismic analysis for the permanent
Reclaimed Condition is similarly above the CDRMS minimums for critical structures: 1.70 > 1.3.
The slope stability analysis in this permit has been prepared according to appropriate
engineering standards and practices.
oPOo LI cF4, 14Vs'
•
Ben Langenfeld, P.E.
P.E.#0047151
• North River Pit GS-4 111
April 2025 Lewicki&Associates
