RULE 2 PERMITS
A summary of various soils interpretative information is presented in Table 2.04.9-11. The information
for each soil series includes:
• Soil series name and map unit symbol
■ Texture of the soil control section
■ Soil depth class
• Effective rooting depth
■ Internal drainage class
■ Permeability class
■ Available water holding capacity
■ Rate of surface runoff
■ Typical reaction class
■ Wind erodibility group
■ Water erosion hazard
■ "K" factor
■ Hydrologic group
■ Understory production (lbs/ac/yr)
• Organic matter percent of "A" horizon
■ Thickness of "A" horizon
A listing ofNRCS soil taxonomic information is presented in Table 2.04.9-12. The information for each
soil series includes:
■ Soil series classification
■ Type location, including county and state
■ Date of most recent official soil series description
A summary of information relating to soil suitability and recommended salvage depths is provided in
Table 2.04.9-13. The information for each map unit and soil series includes:
■ Map unit symbol and name
■ Acreage of each map unit in the disturbed area
■ Soil sample location numbers
■ Total soil depth
■ Total salvage depth
■ Recommended topsoil/subsoil salvage depth
■ Limitations to deeper salvage
Soils laboratory data for the forty soil samples, collected from eleven soil profiles, is presented in Table
2.04.9-14.
Map Unit Suitability Evaluation, Salvage Depths, and Soil Volumes — Lower Wilson Mine Area
Soil suitability and salvage depth was evaluated for all soil horizons of each soil series in each map unit in
the Lower Wilson mining area. As stated above, results of that evaluation are presented in Table 2.04.9-
12. The Lower Wilson mining area contains mostly deep soils with sufficient quantities of suitable soil
available for salvage. Seven map units were identified within the disturbed area associated with the
Lower Wilson Mine Area. A total of 16 soil profiles were fully described in the Lower Wilson mining
area. Thirty soil samples were collected from 9 of the excavated soil profiles. Soils description/sample
locations are shown on Map 5B.
South Taylor/Lower Wilson — Rule 2, Page 36 Revision Date: 4/7/17
Revision No.: RN -07
