Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine <br /> Valley Leach Facility Expansions ■ <br /> Detailed Design for Permitting <br /> NewFields Project No.475.0106.064 <br /> • March 2024 <br /> 1. INTRODUCTION <br /> Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company (CC&V) operates the Cresson Project located in <br /> Teller County, Colorado, near the cities of Cripple Creek and Victor. The Cresson Project is a <br /> mining and ore beneficiation facility that is composed of surface mines as well as two Valley Leach <br /> Facilities (VLFs), two absorption, desorption, and recovery (ADR) plants, and associated <br /> infrastructure; all of which were designed to meet or exceed the requirements established by <br /> C.R.S. §34 32-101 et seq. and regulations promulgated there under the Mined Land Reclamation <br /> Board (MLRB). <br /> The existing VLFs,VLF1 and VLF2 have been constructed in multiple phases. VLF1 has five phases, <br /> the most recent of which was completed in 2010. VLF2 has three phases, and construction on <br /> the third phase was recently completed in 2023. CC&V is proposing to expand the footprints of <br /> VLF1 and VLF2 to accommodate additional ore reserves being identified within the mine area. <br /> This report presents the design for the VLF1 Phase 6 and VLF2 Phase 4 Expansions, which will <br /> generally expand the footprint of VLF2 to the south, and VLF1 to the north. <br /> 1.1. Project Description <br /> • The VLF Expansions is the proposed expansions of the existing VLF1 and VLF2. The proposed <br /> expansion of VLF2 will add approximately 4.1 million square feet of lined pad area to the south <br /> and east of the existing facility, and the proposed expansion of VLF1 will add approximately 4.4 <br /> million square feet to the north and east of the existing facility. The two expansions will meet in <br /> the middle to effectively form one large VLF, increasing the total lined pad area to 47.4 million <br /> square feet. With the proposed expansions, the total capacity of the VLF's will increase by 189 <br /> million tons to a total capacity of 716 million tons assuming an average ore density of 110 Ib/ft3. <br /> Currently, two types of materials are placed in VLF2 with haul trucks for subsequent leaching: <br /> Crushed ore, that has been through a primary and secondary crushing operations to <br /> reduce the nominal size of the material to 3/4-inch or less (3/-inch minus); and <br /> Run-of-Mine ore (ROM), material that has not been through the crusher. <br /> The general design of the VLF Expansions is comprised of a geomembrane lined pad expansion <br /> and a new dedicated internal Process Solution Storage Area (PSSA) for VLF1 Phase 6. The VLF2 <br /> Phase 4 expansion will drain towards the existing VLF2. The solution applied to ore within the <br /> VLF2 Phase 4 footprint will be routed directly to ADR2, except when flows cannot be routed to <br /> ADR2, it would flow into VLF2 Phase 1/2 PSSA via an infiltration gallery on the 9550-foot bench <br /> above ADR2, as shown on Drawings A028 and A029. VLF1 Phase 6, which is a part of the VLF1 <br /> Expansion, will include a new PSSA that will collect solution from the Expansion footprint. <br /> • <br /> Page 1 <br />
