0 .
4.8.1.5 Operational Surface Water Qualltv
0-
Numerous samples have been collected at the surface water monitoring sites and a few analyses of the
water in the settling ponds have been conducted. Samples which were collected in 1977 or later are
included in the operational monitoring table. Table 2.7-18 gives the premine surface water quality.
Most of the drainages were not disturbed at the start of mining and therefore some of the results
presented in this section are baseline concentrations. Table 4.8-8 gives concentrations for total
suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), conductivity, pH, total iron, total manganese and
oil and grease for the surface water sites. Table 4.8-11 in Section 4.8.5.1 lists the locations of the pre -
mining surface water sites. Only a few samples in 1977 were measured from sites SI, S2, S3 and S4
because these are not in the active area. Numerous data are given for the Johnson, No Name, Coyote
and Buzzard Gulch sites.
4-205 a zos _.__ pi: +
