Summit Brick and Tile Co. Patton Clay Mine
Permit#M-1998-067 Temporary Cessation Request
April 10, 2025 Additional Information
Reason mining activities have ceased:
The land formerly owned by Bradley Ranches LLC has been subdivided and sold as lots of
approximately 35-50 acres. The former pit area where mining was occurring was located on
privately owned land. This area where the mine pit was located was fully reclaimed and released
from the permit area, along with all other permitted land located on privately owned land.
Summit Brick has also been told that the land around County Road F29 is being subdivided and
sold as well. To date and to the best of Summit's knowledge, one lot has been sold in this area.
As part of this subdivision and sale, County Road F29 is no longer a public right-of-way.
Summit Brick is looking into entering into a lease with the private landowner where the former
County Road F29 is located. Additionally, Summit Brick is exploring potentially buying a lot to
secure access to the BLM land from the south. Summit Brick is currently pursuing these two
options as well as assessing the financial feasibility of improving the access road to the south
onto BLM land. Summit Brick wishes to enter into temporary cessation status for this mine until
providing access from the south can be fully examined.
