2) If any weedy patches or noxious plants are identified, chemicals approved for use <br /> by the weed control staff of Montrose County wiUbe sprayed by backpacks prayer <br /> or4-wheeler. <br /> 3)After reclamation,weed surveys and spraying wilt continue until perennial cover <br /> and production of the site meets DRMS requirements and bond release is obtained. <br /> The Division and Montrose County staff will be consulted regarding any weed <br /> infestation areas and control measures to be implemented prior to their initiation. <br /> The plan does not contemplate total weed removal on the property. Past experience <br /> shows that some initial weed cover in the first year following topsoiling is beneficial <br /> to reclamation efforts in rangeland sites.Weeds provide shade for new grasses, are <br /> a means of holdings now on the seedbed longer, and protect seedlings from wind <br /> and water erosion until the planted species firmly take hold.All areas of the mining <br /> operation will be monitored closely throughout the year allowing the Operator to <br /> determine if any add itionaIweeds become present. If any new weed species are <br /> found, Montrose County and the Division wilt be consulted to formulate the best <br /> plan to mitigate the new infestation. <br /> 8. Revegetation Success Criteria Areas will be deemed adequate when vegetation is <br /> established to control erosion and noxious weeds are not present in any significant <br /> amounts and all of the conditions of Rule 3.1.10 are met. <br /> 4 <br />
