3. Describe the estimated topsoil depth and how topsoil will be salvaged, stockpiled and
redistributed for the re-establishment of vegetation. Specify approximate topsoil
redistribution depth:
Plant growth material/topsoil ranges in depth from one inch to six inches. This material
will be salvaged using the backhoe to push the material into a drill pad perimeter berm.
The material will be redistributed using the backhoe to approximately four inches deep
across the disturbed area.
4. Describe how drill holes will be plugged (refer to Rule 5.4 of the Rules for required
abandonment procedures):
Drill holes will be immediately abandoned upon completion of extracting core and collecting data. Abandonment
reports will he submitted to the Division within 19 months of abandonment Holes will he abandoned in arrnrrlanne
with Rule 5.4.2. Water producing zones will be sealed according to Division regulations.Immediately upon completion
of each drill hole, the hole will be abandoned/backfilled and plugged in accordance with Colorado Division of Water
Resources requirements, specifically CCR 402-2-16.This will include the utilization of native material and commercial
drilling products specifically designed for drill hole abandonment(bentonite). Hole abandonment will be completed for
each drill hole before the drill rig is moved to another hole.
It artesian water or geothermal waters are encountered in a dnll hole, cement grout or quick setting bentonite will be
utilized to seal the water flow, thereby preventing cross-flow and/or mixing of ground water aquifers.
5. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations, or other disturbances will be
reclaimed (refer to Rule 3 and Rule 5 for specific reclamation performance standards).
You may wish to contact the Division for closure specifications.
All berms, drill pads and drill sumps will be immediately reclaimed upon completion of
drilling. I he stockpiled material that was excavated to form the sump will be pushed
into the sump with a backhoe. The perimeter berm of topsoil will be redistributed using
a backhoe. The area will be reshaped to blend with area contours, to prevent erosion
and will be consistent with area d►ainage patterns of adjacent undisturbed areas. The
pads will be compacted in preparation of seeding.
in 2—Public File Page 9 of 14
