April 29, 2025 C-1981-028/Keenesburg Strip Mine RDZ <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />Sediment Pond 2 and the Dugout Pond contained no visible water; both ponds have large amounts of vegetation on <br />their bottoms. Neither was discharging during the inspection, and there were no signs that the ponds had <br />discharged recently. No problems were observed. <br /> <br />GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br />No signs of impacts to adjacent areas were seen at the permit boundaries. <br /> <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />No erosion problems were seen on any parcels. All of the permit area was observed by driving and walking. <br /> <br />REVEGETATION – Rule 4.15 <br />Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br />Across the site, vegetation cover was very good in some locations, but somewhat sparse in others. Some particular <br />areas where the vegetation was showing significant green grasses are Areas 35 (reclaimed B Pit), 36 (reclaimed <br />Long Term Spoil Pile), and 38 (reclaimed topsand piles at southeast part of permit). In Area 33, on the south side <br />of the permit area, the vegetation cover is very good, with mature grasses from 2015 reclamation, but it was not as <br />green as the more recently reclaimed areas with younger grasses. <br />(These areas correspond to areas on the map from SL-11.) <br /> <br />Other than cheat grass, no noxious weeds were identified. <br /> <br /> <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS – Rule 4.02: <br />The entrance sign was in place and contained the necessary information.
