MEMORANDUM
TO: Errol Lawrence, Devon Horntvedt, Glayden Berry, Julio Madrid,
Melissa Chalona, James Witwer
FROM: Judith Schenk, Ph.D. Senior Project Manager
Bruce A. Lytle, P.E., President
SUBJECT: West Pit Groundwater Model Update and Remediation Simulations
DATE: July 23, 2020
PROJECT NO.: 1006-04
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This memorandum is an update on work that Lytle Water Solutions LLC ("LWS")has completed
to date in collaboration with Hydrosolutions ("HYS") related to changes to the Battle Mountain
Resources, Inc. ("BMRI") groundwater models of the San Luis mine site. The original model was
developed by HYS and LWS has peer-reviewed the model, as well as providing some
modifications to the model and running remediation simulations in conjunction with HYS. LWS
memorandum "Update on West Pit Groundwater Modifications" (December 2019) discussed
adjusting the bottom elevation and adapting the BASE model to MODFLOW-2005. The following
tasks have been completed in addition to the those described in the earlier memo:
1. Reconfigure the bottom elevation;
2. Adjust model general-head boundary elevations;
3. Recalculate BF5 average pumping discharge;
4. Perform sensitivity analyses for each conceptual model;
5. Calibrate each conceptual model;
6. Evaluate and compare performance of each conceptual model;
7. Simulate remediation simulations for each of the three conceptual models;
8. Evaluate mass balance of groundwater flow in the West Pit; and,
9. Provide recommendations for future work
640 PLAZA DRIVE, SUITE 170 PHONE: 303-350-350-4090
HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLORADO B0129 FAX: 303-350-4095
WWW.LYTLEWATER.COM E-MAIL: LWS@LYTLEWATER.COM
