Ref. Page No. M2009-006 00067
Image D-6: Geologic Stratum Cross Section (Meadow Hollow Quarry). Image D-6 shows
the cross-section vertical view along line A-B shown Image D-5. The cross-section is
approximately a mile south of Meadow Hollow Quarry. Some of the formations have been simplified
from those in Image D-5. Surf icial deposits(alluvium and colluvium) are not shown. The red
dot shows the location of Meadow Hollow Quarry relative to the cross-section. Lyons
Formation stone underlies Lykins Formation, which at the area of the quarry has been
entirely eroded to expose the Lyons Formation (see cross section below). The Lyons
Formation in the area of Meadow Hollow Quarry runs to a depth of approximately 300 feet.
The Fountain Formation underlies the Lyons Formation, running in depth between 700 to
1,600 feet, and is comprised of stratified conglomerate and moderately coarse-grained
feldspathic sandstone containing thin layers of shale. Additional detail of the subsurface
stratum is shown in Image D-7 which follows below.
A g
CO>K V-03
.wrrs:wt
Quarry projects South
.1 g appra L to this point
Crewoous
.;,J." ,S' _ !
