Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
I am writing as a private citizen to express my concern about the proposed expansion of the Cross Mine. There
are significant potential short term and long term water quality effects that could impact the ecosystem and
downstream residents and water users.Sediment, especially waste rock or contaminated residues from mining
or mining effluent treatment, poses serious problems for ecosystem and human health. If the surface areas
disturbed by the mining and mine drainage treatment are revegetatated, subsequent wildfires may cause
increased runoff and subsurface flow that can mobilize any metals in the surface materials left on site or used
during the rehabilitation of the site. I strongly suggest that the application to expand the operations at the Cross
Mine be denied to protect ecosystem and human health.Water is one of Colorado's most precious and scarce
resources and it is of the utmost importance to protect that resource and its associated ecosystems for current
and future generations, especially in light of a changing climate.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
• New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number*(?)
Enter a valid permit number
M1977410
