Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
Hi: I am deeply concerned about the proposed expansion of the Cross Mine near Caribou townsite, Colorado.
This is an amazing and largely wild area close to the treasured Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.As a birder, I
have been to the vicinity multiple times,as it is an amazing habitat for high altitude species, and was recently
the first confirmed location in Boulder County for a Cassia Crossbill.
The mine has a history of water quality violations and the water there feeds into the Boulder Water supply.we
do not want heavy metals and other mine waste draining into the water drunk by some 100,000 people.
The site is beautiful, and is largely owned by all people as National Forest. I am deeply opposed to a massive
mining operation in this delicate and beautiful location. There is a well known four wheel drive route there;there
is hiking, and many other land uses that are so very incompatible with a large scale mining operation which
then generates both mine waste and polluted water.
Please do not approve this massive expansion in mining giving the impact on wildlife,on human uses, and
given the owners prior track record of not abiding by legal standards.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
New Permit • Change to Existing Permit
