Comment/Objection Narrative*
Apr. 1,2025
To state legislators Junie Joseph,Janice Marchman,Judy Amabile, Lesley Smith, Division of Reclamation, and
to whom it may concern re: New Permit#M1977410, Boulder Cross Mine and Grand Island Resources
(comment registered at dnrlaserfiche.state.co.us).
It was with great dismay that I read yesterday--so recently that I am obliged to write to you at the eleventh hour-
-about the proposed new permit for this company to pursue their mining activity near Nederland,a site with
multiple precious water resources for the town, for Boulder County, and for all of us who live in the watershed.
The proposal is studded with so many red flags signaling perils to water purity and safety, and is presented by a
company with so many past violations of rules and regulations, that one staggers with disbelief at its effrontery.
I beg decision-makers to challenge every step of this process in the earnest hope that the permit will be denied.
One would expect the denial to begin with a requirement of proof of ability to comply with an expansion of
activities when the company's record of past activities is so dismal. I know that you will hear specifics on how
this can be done from reputable biologists.
The days of permits spanning demi-centuries,given the egregious ongoing violations of regulations and the
walk-away behaviors of large numbers of such enterprises, must be drawing to a close. I ask you to do your
part in overseeing every step of this unwise plan, and then to deny it for the solid reasons that I now hear
coming from many voices.
Yours sincerely,
Linda Andes-Georges
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
• New Permit Change to Existing Permit
Permit Number* (?)
Enter a valid permit number
M1977410
County*
Colorado County where the proposed operation is located
Boulder
Enter one county only
Site Name
Cross Gold Mine
Perm ittee/Operator Name
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Are there supporting photos, maps, or documents you wish to upload?
Yes • No
By submitting this form electronically you agree to receive any/all follow up correspondence from the Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety at the email address you have provided.
