Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative*
Thanks for opening this up to public comments. I am opposed to expansion and active mining at Cross Mine. I
have lived in the ned area for 35 years and believe this project is unsound for our location.
This operation polluted our waterways for 8 months with no local resident alerts, while we swam in the creek, let
our dogs play in the water, our neighbor's kids play in the water and we drank our well water without filtering it.
We always trusted Tom to do right by the environment and didn't realize that this had occured under new
ownership.
My understanding is there are still major concerns up there given wildfire risks, flood risks, and just your basic
air, light, noise and water pollution in the impacted area. That area is now a major recreation designation.
Boulder County bought the open space so how will the miners safely work around all the bikers/hikers/dogs
vehicles etc. How will the air and light pollution affect the recreational experience?
This area is a critical wildlife habitat, how will underground minding, trucks, noise, milling, equipment, workers
etc affect the wildlife and habitat?
HOW will DRMS ensure that those of us downstream are not harmed by pollution, given the signifcant
violations that have occured in the past?
I read the application and feel like it doesn't answer my questions and concerns. It feels vague and pie in the
sky optimistic that 50 years of active mining will be done without pollution violations. Please reject this mining
expansion and stop active mining permission for this location.
