I still frequent this area to camp, hike, and bike
with my dog.
There's always been significant concerns in this area from leftover mining remains. There are old test pits full of
trash and dangerous holes and excessive amounts of mine tailing piles.
I've always held out hope that this area will see significant restoration so it can continue to be a safe refuse for
wildlife and residents of Boulder county and surrounding areas to enjoy for generations to come.
The expansion of the mines will put a hault to that and put our futures in jeopardy, not to mention the excess
risk placed on all of Nederland and Boulder county with the potential for long term damage to the water quality.
I have followed closely the history of violations from Grand Island Resources and I do not believe that we can
take the risk of allowing their expansion.Colorado has a rich history of mining, but we suffer from the results of
this industry's boom and bust nature as dozens of bust companies left behind their contaminated properties.
If we still can't thoroughly clean up the mines of 100+years ago,we simply cannot afford to continue expanding
mining in our own backyards.
Permitting Action Comment/Objection is Regarding
9 New Permit Change to Existing Permit
